Investment Management: Greg is an advocate of an advanced form of tactical investment management called Trend Aggregation. Trend Aggregation involves combining tactical methodologies that have different uncorrelated return streams, such as intermediate-term momentum methodologies and short-term countertrend methodologies. Tactical investing is designed to offer investors better protection against bear markets than modern portfolio theory investing.
Relevant Experience: Greg Skidmore focuses on applying institutional money management strategies to the portfolios of individual investors. He has completed the SACRS UC Berkeley Haas School of Finance Public Pension Investment Management Program. In addition, he has passed the series 7, 24, 63, 65 securities exams and he has passed the Connecticut life and health insurance exam. Greg is a contributor to financial website SeekingAlpha.com.
In 2003, Greg joined Advest, formally a subsidiary of AXA Financial, where he spent time in Equity Research and Institutional Sales, working to generate investment ideas for large institutional clients. He then took that experience to Smith Barney where he designed and managed portfolios for one of the premier private wealth management teams within Citigroup.
Personal: Greg is the grandson of Louis Skidmore co-founder of the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Greg was a member of the 2003 US Sailing Team (NY Times, Hartford Courant). He ultimately became the top ranked American in the world in the Finn Class and was an Olympic hopeful. During high school and college he volunteered with the Special Olympics Sailing Team as a coach (Hartford Courant). Greg graduated from Connecticut College in 1999 with a BA in Economics and History. He is now married with three children and resides in Wilton, CT. His wife Liz Skidmore has been an educator in some of the areas most prestigious private schools and now is a teacher of Waterside School in Stamford, CT.
